動詞の活用

 動詞の活用形は、未然形・連用形・終止形・連体形・仮定形・命令形の6種類があります。

 Verbs have six conjugated forms: the imperfective form, the continuative form, the terminal form, the attributive form, the hypothetical form, and the imperative form.


未然形

 動詞の未然形は、「ない」「う・よう」に繋がります。

 The imperfective form of a verb connects to 「ない」 and 「う・よう」.

例

 書かない・書こう・食べない・食べよう


連用形

 動詞の連用形は、「ます」「た(だ)・て(で)」に繋がります。

 The continuative form of a verb connects to 「ます」 and 「た(だ)・て(で)」.

例

 書きます・書いた・食べて・飲んだ


終止形

 動詞の終止形は、そこで文が終わります(言い切る)。

 The terminal form of a verb is the form in which a sentence ends (the plain final form).

例

 書く・飲む・食べる


連体形

 動詞の連体形は、体言(とき・ことなど)に繋がります。

 The attributive form of a verb connects to a substantive (such as 「とき」 or 「こと」).

例

 食べるとき・寝るとき


仮定形

 動詞の仮定形は、「ば」に繋がります。

 The hypothetical form of a verb connects to 「ば」.

例

 すれば・なれば・飲めば・書けば


命令形

 動詞の命令形は、命令して文を言い切ります。

 The imperative form of a verb ends a sentence with a command.

例

 来い・食べろ・行け・やめろ


語幹と活用語尾

 語幹とは、単語を活用するとき、形が変わらない部分です。

 The stem is the part of a word that does not change when the word conjugates.

例

 書く・書かない・書きます・書けば (赤い部分)


 活用語尾とは、単語を活用するとき、形が変わる部分です。

 The inflectional ending is the part of a word that changes when the word conjugates.

例

 書く・書かない・書きます・書けば (赤い部分)
