Description

　この文型は、動作が途中であることや、まだ完了していない状態を表す表現で、何かを始めたが、中途半端な状態を指します。また、動作が今まさに始まろうとしていることを示す場合にも使われることもあります。 This sentence pattern expresses that an action or state is in the process of being completed but has not finished yet, or something is about to begin.

Examples

読よみかけの本ほんを机つくえの上うえに置おいた。I placed the book I had started reading on the desk.

彼女かのじょは言いいかけて、言葉ことばを飲のみ込こんだ。She started to say something, but then stopped herself.

書かきかけの手紙てがみが引ひき出だしにしまってある。The letter I started writing is kept in the drawer.

彼かれは仕事しごとをやりかけたまま、どこかへ行いってしまった。He left his work half-done and went somewhere.

お菓子かしを食たべかけて、ダイエットしていることを思おもい出だした。I started to eat some sweets and then remembered I was on a diet.
