Usage

動詞ます形 + たい

Description

　「たい」は、話し手の希望や願望を表す助動詞で、動詞のます形に接続して、形容詞と同じように活用します。また、第三者の希望を表現するときは、「〜たがる」を使います。「たい」is an auxiliary verb expressing the speaker’s desire or wish, used after the masu-stem of verbs and conjugating similarly to adjectives. To express the desires of a third party,「〜たがる」is used. Similar to "want to ...” in English.

Examples

映画えいがを見みたい。I want to watch a movie.

お茶ちゃを飲のみたいです。I would like to have some tea.

今日きょうは時間じかんがなくて、映画えいがを見みたくても見みられませんでした。I didn’t have time today, so even though I wanted to watch a movie, I couldn’t.

夕飯ゆうはんを一緒いっしょに作つくりたかった。I wanted to cook dinner together.

水みずを買かいたくて、コンビニに行いきました。I went to the convenience store to buy some water.
