この・その・あの・どの

Description

　「この」「その」「あの」「どの」は、物や人を指し示す連体詞で、名詞の前に置かれ、その名詞が話し手や聞き手との距離によって変わります。「この」は話し手の近くにある物や人、「その」は聞き手の近くにある物や人、「あの」は話し手と聞き手のどちらからも離れている物や人を指します。「どの」は複数の中からどれか一つを尋ねるときに使います。「この」「その」「あの」「どの」are demonstrative adjectives used to indicate people or things. “この” refers to things near the speaker, “その” to those near the listener, “あの” to those far from both, and “どの” is used to ask which one among several. Similar to "this”, "that” and "which” in English.

Examples

この本ほんは面白おもしろいです。This book is interesting.

その資料しりょうを見みせていただけますか？Could you show me that document?

あの建物たてものは歴史的れきしてきです。That building is historical.

どの映画えいがを見みたいですか？Which movie do you want to watch?

その契約書けいやくしょにサインしてください。Please sign that contract.
