Description

　「しかし」は、逆接の意味を持つ接続詞で、前の文の内容と後の文の内容が強く対立する場合に使用されます。フォーマルな場面や書き言葉でよく使われます。「しかし」is a conjunction expressing strong contrast, used when the content of the first and second clauses is in sharp opposition. It is used in formal situations and written language. Similar to "but” or "however” in English.

Examples

プロジェクトは成功せいこうしました。しかし、多おおくの課題かだいが残のこされています。The project was successful. However, many challenges remain.

教育制度きょういくせいどは改善かいぜんされました。しかし、依然いぜんとして地域格差ちいきかくさが存在そんざいします。The education system has been improved. However, regional disparities still exist.

彼かれの研究けんきゅうは革新的かくしんてきでした。しかし、実用化じつようかには至いたりませんでした。His research was innovative. However, it did not reach practical application.

この薬くすりは効果的こうかてきです。しかし、副作用ふくさようもあります。This medicine is effective. However, it also has side effects.

企業きぎょうの利益りえきは増加ぞうかしました。しかし、労働者ろうどうしゃの賃金ちんぎんは据すえ置おかれています。The company’s profits have increased. However, workers’ wages have been stagnant.
