Description

　この文型は、ある事柄や状況が一見そう見えるものの、実際には異なる可能性や矛盾した側面を示すときに使われる表現です。話し手の曖昧な印象や微妙なニュアンスを伝える場合に使用されます。 This sentence pattern shows that something seems a certain way, but there may be another possibility or a contradictory aspect. It conveys a vague impression or subtle nuance.

Examples

この料理りょうりは一見いっけん簡単かんたんなようで、実際じっさいに作つくってみると案外あんがい難むずかしい。This dish seems simple at first glance, but it’s actually quite difficult to make.

この本ほんは面白おもしろいようで、内容ないようはちょっと難解なんかいだ。This book seems interesting, but its content is a bit difficult to understand.

彼かれはいつも元気げんきなようで、実じつはストレスがたまっているらしい。He always seems cheerful, but it seems he is actually quite stressed.

彼かれの言いっていることは正ただしいようで、どこか矛盾むじゅんしている。What he’s saying seems correct, but there’s some contradiction somewhere.
