Description

　この文型は、実際にはそうではないが、まるでそうであるように見えることを比喩的に表す表現です。この文型は、話し手の主観や推測を含み、物事を具体的にイメージさせるときに用いられます。 This sentence pattern metaphorically expresses something that appears to be a certain way, but in reality, it is not. It includes the speaker’s subjective impression or assumption and creates a vivid image.

Examples

彼かれはその事実じじつを知しっていたかのように、冷静れいせいに対処たいしょした。He handled the situation calmly as if he had known the facts.

彼かれはすべてが計画けいかく通どおりに進すすんでいるかのように、満足まんぞくそうに微笑ほほえんだ。He smiled contentedly as if everything was going according to plan.

その部屋へやはまるで何年なんねんも使つかわれていないかのように、ほこりまみれだった。The room was covered in dust as if it hadn’t been used for years.

彼女かのじょはまるで自分じぶんが悪わるくないかのように、開ひらき直なおった。She brazenly acted as if she had done nothing wrong.
