名詞 + より

Description

　「より」は、比較や基準を表すときに使う助詞です。「より」の後に続く文で比較対象とされるものが、前の文で述べられたものと比較されていることを示します。また、「ほうが」と組み合わせて、二つのものを比較するときによく使われます。「より」is a particle used to indicate comparison or a reference point. It shows that the item mentioned after「より」is being compared with something mentioned earlier in the sentence. It is often used in combination with「ほうが」when comparing two things. Similar to "compare to ...” in English.

Examples

この映画えいがは前作ぜんさくより面白おもしろい。This movie is more interesting than the previous one.

今日きょうは昨日きのうより暖あたたかいです。Today is warmer than yesterday.

新あたらしい基準きじゅんは従来じゅうらいの基準きじゅんより厳きびしいです。The new standards are stricter than the previous ones.
