Description

　「〜上は」は、ある出来事や状況を前提として、それに基づいた強い決意や行動を述べるときに使われる表現です。「〜からには」と似た意味を持ちます。「〜上は」is used to express strong determination or actions based on a certain situation or event. It is similar to「〜からには」.

Examples

留学りゅうがくを決きめた上うえは、しっかりと勉強べんきょうしてこようと思おもう。Since I’ve decided to study abroad, I intend to study hard.

一度いちどやると決きめた上うえは、最後さいごまで全力ぜんりょくを尽つくすべきだ。Once you’ve decided to do something, you should see it through to the end.

契約けいやくを結むすんだ上うえは、最後さいごまで責任せきにんを持もって遂行すいこうしなければならない。Now that we’ve signed the contract, we must carry it out responsibly to the end.
