Description

　「ところで」は、話題を変えるときに使われる接続詞です。前の文で述べたことから、全く異なる新しい話題に移るときに使用されます。主に会話の中で使われ、自然に話の流れを切り替える役割を果たします。「ところで」is a conjunction used when changing the topic. It shifts the conversation from the previous subject to a completely different topic. It is mostly used in conversations and helps smoothly switch the flow of discussion. Similar to "by the way” in English.

Examples

明日あしたは会議かいぎがあります。ところで、先週せんしゅうの報告書ほうこくしょは見みましたか？There is a meeting tomorrow. By the way, did you see last week’s report?

レポートは終おわりました。ところで、今晩こんばんの飲のみ会かいに行いきますか？The report is finished. By the way, are you going to the drinking party tonight?

この店みせの料理りょうりは美味おいしいですね。ところで、来週らいしゅうの旅行りょこうはどこに行いく予定よていですか？The food at this restaurant is delicious. By the way, where are you planning to go next week?

プロジェクトは順調じゅんちょうに進すすんでいます。ところで、新あたらしいメンバーはどうですか？The project is progressing smoothly. By the way, how is the new member?
