Description

　「ものの」は、ある事実を認めつつも、その結果が期待通りにならないことを表すときに使う接続助詞です。逆接の意味を持ち、主に書き言葉で使われます。「ものの」is a conjunction used to acknowledge a certain fact but indicate that the expected outcome does not materialize. It carries a sense of contrast and is primarily used in written language.

Examples

資格しかくを取得しゅとくしたものの、仕事しごとに活いかせていない。Although I obtained the qualification, I haven’t been able to use it in my job.

説明書せつめいしょを読よんだものの、使つかい方かたがよくわからない。Even though I read the manual, I still don’t understand how to use it.

出発しゅっぱつの準備じゅんびは整ととのったものの、天気てんきが悪わるくて旅行りょこうは延期えんきになった。Although we were ready to leave, the trip was postponed due to bad weather.
