Description

　この文型は、ある事実や条件を認めた上で、実際にはそれとは反対、またはそれほどでもない状況や結果があることを表す表現です。 This sentence pattern is used to express a situation or result that is contrary to or not as expected, even after acknowledging a fact or condition.

Examples

試験しけんは終おわったとはいうものの、結果けっかがまだ発表はっぴょうされていないので落おち着つかない。Although the exam is over, I can’t relax because the results haven’t been announced yet.

家いえを出でたとはいうものの、雨あめがひどくてなかなか進すすめない。Although I left the house, the rain is so heavy that I can’t get far.

仕事しごとが終おわったとはいうものの、まだ細こまかい部分ぶぶんが残のこっている。Although the work is finished, there are still some minor details left.
