Description

　この文型は、実際には問題が発生しなかったが、状況によっては悪い結果になり得たことを表す表現です。安心しつつも、状況が好転したのは偶然であると暗示するときに用いられます。 This sentence pattern expresses that, although there was no actual problem, the situation could have led to an undesirable result. It hints that the good turn of events was coincidental while the speaker feels relieved.

Examples

雨あめが小降こぶりだったからいいようなものの、大雨おおあめだったら濡ぬれていただろう。It was just a light drizzle, so it was fine, but if it had been heavy rain, I would have gotten soaked.

彼女かのじょが来きたからいいようなものの、来こなかったら大変たいへんだった。It was a good thing that she came, but it would have been terrible if she hadn't.

近ちかくにATMがあったからいいようなものの、なかったら困こまっていた。It was good that there was an ATM nearby, but I would have been in trouble if there hadn't been one.

彼かれのミスが小ちいさいものだったからいいようなものの、重大じゅうだいなミスだったら大問題だいもんだいになっていた。It’s good that his mistake was minor, but if it had been a major one, it would have been a big problem.

その書類しょるいがコピーだったからよかったようなものの、原本げんぽんだったら取とり返かえしがつかないところだった。It was just a copy, so it’s okay, but if it had been the original, it would have been irreparable.
