Description

　「あいにく」は、期待や願いに反して残念な結果になることを表す副詞です。予定や状況がうまくいかない、または予期しない不運に見舞われたときに使われます。「あいにく」 is an adverb used to express a disappointing outcome contrary to expectations or wishes. It is used when plans or situations do not go well, or when one encounters unforeseen misfortune.

Examples

あいにく、彼かれは今いま出でかけています。Unfortunately, he is out at the moment.

あいにくですが、その日ひは予定よていが入はいっています。Unfortunately, I already have plans for that day.

あいにくですが、その商品しょうひんは在庫ざいこがありません。Unfortunately, that product is out of stock.

あいにく、私わたしはその件けんに関与かんよしていません。Unfortunately, I’m not involved in that matter.

あいにくの不在ふざいで、彼かれに会あうことはできなかった。Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to meet him due to his absence.
