　この文型は、期待や予想とは全く異なる結果や状況を強調するときに使われる表現で、前の文で述べられた事柄とは反対の内容や、さらに悪い状況を述べるときに多く使用されます。　This sentence pattern emphasizes a result or situation that is completely different from what was expected or anticipated, often used when the result contradicts the prior statement or when the situation becomes worse than expected.

例文

雨あめが止やむどころか、ますます激はげしくなってきた。Far from stopping, the rain has gotten even heavier.
