　この文型は、ある状況や条件であれば多少受け入れられるが、それ以上は到底受け入れられないという話し手の感情を表す表現です。　This sentence pattern expresses that, while a situation or condition might be somewhat acceptable, anything beyond that would be completely unacceptable.

例文

一度いちどだけならまだしも、何度なんども同おなじミスをするのは問題もんだいだ。It would be somewhat acceptable if it happened only once, but making the same mistake multiple times is a problem.

小学生しょうがくせいならまだしも、高校生こうこうせいがこの問題もんだいを解とけないのはおかしい。It would be somewhat acceptable if it were an elementary school student, but it’s strange that a high school student can’t solve this problem.

一日いちにちぐらいならまだしも、二日ふつか以上いじょうの断水だんすいは耐たえられない。A one-day water outage would be somewhat acceptable, but more than two days is unbearable.
