1.鼻濁音とは

　鼻濁音とは、息を鼻に抜きながら発音するやわらかい「が」行（が・ぎ・ぐ・げ・ご）のことです。「か゚・き゚・く゚・け゚・こ゚」と表記します。

　The nasal 「ga」 is a soft version of the が row (が・ぎ・ぐ・げ・ご) pronounced while letting the breath out through the nose. It is written 「か゚・き゚・く゚・け゚・こ゚」.

発音の仕方

　鼻濁音は、「が」行の頭に、小さな「ん」がついたような音です。

　The nasal 「ga」 sounds as if a small 「ん」 were attached to the front of the が row.

鼻濁音を使う人

　アナウンサーや声優など、言葉や声のプロフェッショナルが正確・上品に伝えるために使用します。現代では、日常会話で鼻濁音を使わない人が増えており、地域（関西など）によっては元々使う習慣が無い場合もあります。

　Professionals of language and voice — announcers, voice actors and the like — use it to sound precise and refined. These days more and more people do not use the nasal 「ga」 in everyday conversation, and in some regions (such as Kansai) there was never the habit of using it.

ニュースや試験で聴いた際に「が」行と同じ音だ、と聞き取れれば十分で、普段の会話で無理に使い分ける必要はありません。無理に使おうとすると、不自然になることもあります。

　It is enough if, when you hear it on the news or in an exam, you recognize it as the same sound as the が row; there is no need to force the distinction in everyday conversation. Forcing it can even sound unnatural.

2.鼻濁音で発音するところ

　「が」行を読むとき、自然に鼻濁音になることがありますが、「が」行を全て鼻濁音で発音していいわけではありません。
　一般的に、鼻濁音で発音するところ、しないところがあります。

　When reading the が row it sometimes becomes the nasal 「ga」 naturally, but that does not mean every が-row sound may be pronounced that way.
　In general there are places where the nasal 「ga」 is used and places where it is not.

鼻濁音は発音が柔らかく、語頭の「が」行や、数字の「５(ご)」を鼻濁音にしてしまうと、相手がはっきりと聞き取れないことがあります。そのため、普通は鼻濁音を使いません。また、外来語や音をもとにして作られた言葉も、もとの音を重視するため鼻濁音は使いません。

　The nasal 「ga」 sounds soft, so if you use it for the が row at the start of a word or for the numeral 「５(ご)」, the listener may not catch it clearly. That is why it is normally not used there. Loanwords and words built from sounds also avoid it, because the original sound is what matters.

4.まとめ

　・鼻濁音：やわらかい「が」行（が・ぎ・ぐ・げ・ご）。表記は、「か゚・き゚・く゚・け゚・こ゚」。
